Finally, after a total of 3 hrs of delay at JFK I arrived in Madrid!! The rooms were
nt ready when we went to the hotel so we chatted it up in the lobby. By the time we were assigned rooms we had 1hr to shower and get ready for the day...at the time i had been up for 27hrs and counting....
On our first tour we went to the Royal Palace (Palacio Real) in Madrid. There were no pictures allowed in side but it was really neat. We then walked around the city and the tour guide professor pointed out the really cool, old, and popular places on Madrid. Im not sure how far we walked except that it was for 2 hrs.. after and 2hrs in the Palacio Real..(now awake for 33ish hour and counting...)
We returned to the hotel, had a meeting and then dinner..eventually returning to the hotel room to PASS OUT (around 1130-12)..after 42hrs of being awake to then have a wake up call of....7:30am. Nice.
The food at the hotel was different but not too much. They had pasta (large amounts) probably for all of the American students staying there..the typical dishes were meets, fishes, salads with meat and fish, lettuce carrots and beats, and then bread and desserts. At dinner there was usually french fries. Pop bottles are really small and wine/beer/liquor is about .40 cents more than water. And you can get a can of Hieneken out of the pop(soda) machine. (Every time I say "pop" everyone else says "huh" ...we really are the only people in the US that use that word).
